MATHEMATICS MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 60 total and 39 upper-division credits are required for the BA in MATHEMATICS major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Foreign Language Competency, if required			Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB (Choose none to three depending on competency courses needed.)

Other	Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Major	MAT 2401	MAT 3360, MAT 3237	MAT 2720, MAT 3238

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB (Choose one to four depending on competency courses needed.)

Other	Apply for admission to the major once you have earned a 2.5 or above in 15 credits in mathematics that apply to the major. Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

YEAR 3	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum				UCOR 3000 UFDN 3100

Major	MAT 3749; MAT 3401 OR MAT 4610	MAT 3751 OR MAT 4402	MAT 3441 OR MAT 3443; MAT 4402 OR MAT 4403	Additional credits in mathematics courses numbered 3000-4999 (8 credits)* A maximum of 3 credits of MAT 4930 may be applied.

Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned. Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

Major	MAT 3401 OR MAT 4610; MAT 4899

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, SSA, NSA (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)

Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review. Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed

*Students pursuing an endorsement in secondary education must take MAT 3401 as 3 of the 8 additional credits.
