PHYSICS MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 72 total and 47 upper-division credits are required for the BS in PHYSICS major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Major	PHY 1101, OR PHY 1121, MAT 1234	PHY 1102, OR PHY 1122, MAT 1235	PHY 1103, OR PHY 1123, MAT 1236

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests

Other	Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum				UCOR 2000 UFDN 2000/3001

Major	EGR 2501, MAT 2401,	MAT 3237, PHY 2321	MAT 3238	PHY 2321, PHY 3401 and PHY 3841 or in Yr. 3

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Complete Foreign Language Competency, if required			AHA, AHB, SSA, SSB, NSA (Choose one to three depending on competency courses needed)

Other	Apply for admission to the major once PHY 2321 has been successfully completed. Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned. Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

Major				PHY 4310, PHY 4341 , PHY 4899 , 15 credits of PHY upper division electives

Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review. Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
