BA in COMPUTER SCIENCE
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 71 total and 41 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Computer Science major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

YEAR 1	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum	USEM 1000	UCOR 1000 OR UFDN 1000	UCOR 1000 OR UFDN 1000

Major	CSC 1230	CSC 2430	CSC 2431, MAT 1221

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Complete elementaryforeign language, if requirement was not fulfilled in high school. Unless exempt, take Math Placement Test at least three academic quarters before you plan to take Statistics.			AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB (Choose one or two depending on competency courses needed.)

Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum				UCOR 2000 UFDN 2000/3001

Major	CSC 3220	CSC 3750 (offered alternate years), MAT 1720 (offered alternate years)	CSC 3221,	MAT 1360 or 2700

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Complete ENG 2201, if required.			AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB (Choose one to three depending on competency courses needed.)

Other	Apply for admission to the major. See Computing Sciences information page.			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

YEAR 3	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Major	CSC 3150, CSC 3310 (offered alternate years)	CSC 3430 (offered alternate years), CSC 3750 (offered alternate years), MAT 1720 (offered alternate years)	CSC 3899 CSC 3350 (offered alternate years)	2 courses from CSC 4000-4850 or 4970 (spread between junior and senior year)

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)

Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.			Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

YEAR 4	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Major	CSC 3310 (offered alternate years)	CSC 3430 (offered alternate years)	CSC 4898 CSC 3350 (offered alternate years)	2 courses from CSC 4000-4850 or 4970 (spread between junior and senior year) CSC Project or Research Course (CSC 4151 and 4152, CSC 4150, 4760, 4820, OR 4970)

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)

Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
