SOCIOLOGY MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 53 total and 25 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Sociology major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Common Curriculum	USEM 1000	UCOR 1000 OR UFDN 1000	UCOR 1000 OR UFDN 1000
Major				SOC 1110
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Begin or resume elementary foreign language, if competency requirement is not complete. Unless you are exempt, take the Math Placement Test at least three academic quarters before you intend to take your Statistics class. Complete ENG 2201, if required.			AHA, AHB, AHC, SSB, NSA, NSB (Choose two to five depending on competency courses needed)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum				UCOR 2000 UFDN 2000/3001
Major				SOC 2360 OR MAT 1360; SOC elective credits (30 needed to fulfill major requirements)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSB, NSA, NSB (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Apply for admission to the major once 15 credits in SOC have been successfully completed.			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

YEAR 3	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum				UCOR 3000 UFDN 3100
Major				SOC 3751; SOC elective credits (30 needed to fulfill major requirements)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSB, NSA, NSB (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.			Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

YEAR 4	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum
Major				SOC 4899, SOC 4702, complete remaining elective credits
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
