The purpose of the music program is threefold:
SPU is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Admission to the Majors or Minor Music Therapy The SPU Music Therapy program is an integrative, multidisciplinary curriculum. Music therapy students are required to:
*Note: Prior to enrolling in BIO 2129 and 2130, Anatomy and Physiology, students must demonstrate proficiency in chemistry through a score of 30 or higher on SPU’s online Chemistry Placement Exam or through completion of a college-level chemistry course equivalent to CHM 1100 or 1211. Students must demonstrate math proficiency before they may enroll in CHM 1100 or CHM 1211. Career Opportunities
Music Ensemble Opportunities
Piano Proficiency Piano proficiency is required by the junior year. Students who are enrolled in Musicianship I or II and who are identified as needing remedial keyboard skills may be required to enroll in MUS 1255 until the keyboard proficiency exam (required of all majors) is passed. Integrated Studies Major with a concentration in The Arts Students who are planning to obtain elementary school certification and are interested in music must major in the Integrated Studies major with a concentration in The Arts.
