Now in its third year, the BVR/SPU
Valuation Challenge at
Seattle Pacific University brings together teams of finance
students with expert instruction, real world company
Resources (BVR), and
professional judges from
Moss Adams, LLP and other
The 2014 Challenge is open to student teams from the first 24
universities and colleges to apply. Teams
will estimate the stand-alone value of an actual private company
provided by the accounting firm of Moss Adams, LLP. Teams
may use materials from the extensive
database of BVR for one year at no charge.
The database materials
explain why smaller public and private companies exhibit
significantly lower multiples of value than their larger public
counterparts and demonstrate how to calculate these lower
values. BVR materials would otherwise cost each
student over $5,000 and are considered essential by appraisers,
investment analysts, consultants, brokers, and lawyers. More

Cash awards of $5,000, $2,500, and $1,500 will be given to
the top three teams.
