About the School of Business, Government, and Economics

  • Feature

Academic Quality: What’s on your list? Count the advantages of AACSB accreditation. Small classes. An outstanding faculty. Mentoring opportunities. It’s all here.

We believe in another way of doing business.

While it is possible to judge a business school by how many professors it employs or by its lineup of impressive monuments, Seattle Pacific University's School of Business, Government, and Economics has set a different standard for itself.

In addition to offering the finest undergraduate, graduate, and professional education, we're committed to teaching and modeling the highest values and ethics for business professionals. Ultimately we're dedicated to graduating students who will make a lasting, positive impact on the world.

Our Mission

Deeply grounded in Christian faith and values,
we develop leaders who advance human flourishing through service
in business, government, and civil society.

International Reputation and National Recognition

Since it opened its doors in 1977, the School of Business, Government, and Economics at SPU has earned a reputation worldwide for a high-quality, distinctly Christian approach to business achievement. And today SPU continues to equip men and women in diverse professional fields ― across all ages and ethnicities, and in all reaches of the globe ― to see all of life, including work, as sacred activity.

All reputable institutions are regionally accredited, and Seattle Pacific is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. The best business schools, however, meet the most rigorous national accreditation standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, or AACSB. The School of Business, Government, and Economics at SPU has held AACSB accreditation since 2000.

The School is also regularly included in U.S. News & World Report’s listings of “Best Business Schools,” including rankings for leading part-time MBA programs. We’re featured in The Princeton Review’s annual “Best Business Schools” edition, and the Aspen Institute recognized SPU in its “Beyond Grey Pinstripes” survey.

Exceptional Faculty

Our faculty includes individuals with doctoral degrees who bring a broad base of business experience — from banking and law to financial forecasting, marketing, international relations and American politics, and information systems development — to the classroom. Many of our professors also have theological or philosophical training in ethics and related fields. SPU faculty members care about the added moral and spiritual dimension of work, even as they care deeply about the students they serve.

Focus on Your Success

As a student in the School of Business, Government, and Economics, you’ll enjoy individual relationships with faculty, staff, and fellow students.

  • As an undergraduate, you are actively supported by a faculty advisor, whose goal is to help you navigate class requirements and reach your educational and professional goals.
  • As a graduate student, you'll find our graduate programs responsive to the needs of working professionals, with small class sizes and a minimum of red tape.

At every level, our goal is to provide you with the kind of learning experience that focuses on your success.

Networking Opportunities

Whether you’re preparing for a first career or transitioning to a new career, expanding opportunities for advancement or simply exploring options, a personalized mentorship program enables you to meet with experienced professionals from a wide variety of businesses and industries. You’ll spend time with your mentor right from the start, as you forge new connections and glean wisdom from some of the best in the business.

SPU also brings you into direct contact with the wider business community, local and national, by hosting outstanding business leaders on campus for speaking events and roundtables. You’ll hear their stories and insights firsthand, and find answers to your questions.

Flexibility

Seattle Pacific’s business graduate programs and professional education programs are designed with busy students in mind — people who live in the real world. That’s why we offer you flexible class options in a variety of formats — from one night a week to weekend or weeklong intensives.

We make programs as convenient for you as possible, without sacrificing the quality and challenge you expect.

“It goes without saying, my business degree from SBGE plays a huge role in the success of my business today, but it is the relationships with students and faculty I met along the way that will never leave me. Those relationships have made all the difference.”
