Transfer students are those that have not completed coursework at SPU in the past four quarters and must have completed either a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) degree or 90 transferable credits by the end of summer prior to entry into the nursing program. If you have questions about how your general education credits will transfer, please see the Transfer Course Equivalency Guide or contact a transfer admissions counselor.
You must have a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA in the prerequisite courses, with no course less than a “C” grade (2.0). A maximum of two courses may be repeated to achieve the minimum grade of 2.0. Four prerequisite courses must be completed by the application due date.
Transfer Students must have completed and submitted official transcripts for the following prerequisite courses by the end of Spring quarter to be eligible for admission:
- Anatomy & Physiology – 10 quarter credits
- General (Inorganic) Chemistry – 5 quarter credits
- Biological (Organic) Chemistry – 5 quarter credits
By the end of Summer quarter you must have completed either a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) degree or 90 transferable credits and all General Education requirements except for UCOR 3000 and UFDN 3100.
Meeting the minimum criteria for consideration of admission neither implies nor guarantees admission to the program.
How to apply
New for 2018-19 Applicants
The Lydia Green Nursing Program is implementing a schedule of multiple admission dates for all currently enrolled, post-baccalaureate and transfer applicants. Application due dates and admission quarters have changed. Please read carefully the updated application information.
In the inaugural 2018-2019 year, transfer students will apply for admission to the Winter 2019 cohort. The eventual goal is to offer a minimum of two cohorts per year for all applicants, but in this admission cycle, there will be only one opportunity for transfer applications and admission.
Applications will be available for completion February 15, 2018 – April 16, 2018. The deadline for submission of the nursing application is 4:30 pm on April 16, 2018.
To begin the application process submit the following:
1. An application to Seattle Pacific University.
2. An application* (PDF) to the Nursing Major including:
- Completed “Prerequisite Calculator/Details” form
- Course descriptions are required for any prerequisite courses that are not listed on the Transfer Course Equivalency Guide.
- "Work and Volunteers Hours" form- a summary of work and volunteer hour from the past 3 years.
3. Professional Recommendation form. You will email the recommendation form to someone who knows you in a professional setting.
*Chrome or Internet Explorer is needed to complete fillable PDFs; Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox are not compatible. Adobe reader is required in order for the application to calculate correctly.
You will be notified by email in early May if you are selected for an interview. Interviews will take place at various times in May 2018.
You will be notified of your admissions status by July 1st. Applicants completing prerequisites after winter 2018 may be given provisional admission until all prerequisites are complete and official transcripts received.
If taking prerequisites Spring quarter, you must email your unofficial transcript by June 15, 2018 to BSN@spu.edu for continued eligibility.
If taking prerequisites Summer quarter, final official transcripts for prerequisites must be submitted no later than September 1, 2018 for continued eligibility.
Acceptance is contingent on successful completion of all prerequisite courses by the end of summer quarter. All applicants must have achieved the minimum or higher prerequisite GPA at the time the application is submitted and when all prerequisite courses are complete.
