By Marie Anderson, Parent Council President
The SPU Parent Council is a group of about 18 parent ambassadors whose mission is "to create a vibrant parent community at SPU, one that develops lifelong relationships among parents and with the University."
We accomplish this goal by assisting the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at SPU to host several events throughout the year. This includes Summer Socials in the greater Seattle area, a Parent Connections Dessert during Welcome Week, a Q-and-A with potential parents during SPU's Admitted Student Preview, Mom's Weekend in November, and Dad's Day in the spring. We also have the privilege of heading up the SPU Parent Prayer time once a month on campus. These events are ways in which parents can connect with each other, get their questions and concerns answered, pray corporately for the University, and enjoy time with their students on campus and in the Seattle area.
We also have a group of parent volunteers who assist at these events. If you have any interest in volunteering, we would love to hear from you. Email parents@spu.edu and we will be happy to contact you!
