Digital Discernment: Navigating Life, Faith, and Technology

The 22nd annual Day of Common Learning welcomed keynote speaker, Kate Ott, the Jerre and Mary Joy Stead Professor of Christian Social Ethics at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Ott is the author of several books, including Christian Ethics for a Digital Society (2019) and Sex, Tech, and Faith: Ethics for a Digital Age (2022).

On Great Fields: The Life and Unlikely Heroism of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

Hosted by the School of Theology and the History Department, this lecture featured Pulitzer-prize winning author, historian, and theologian, Dr. Ronald C. White, who discussed his new book on Joshua Chamberlain, the famous Civil War general who was also a committed Christian and abolitionist.

The Old Man and the Old Moon

An award-winning musical, The Old Man and The Old Moon, directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Candace Vance and written by PigPen Theatre Company. An epic tale of an old man who must abandon his duties of filling up the moon with liquid light to cross the seas in search of his missing wife. Learn more about this play and the 2023–24 theatre season.

Under the direction of Director of Percussion Studies and Percussion Ensemble Dan Adams, the SPU Percussion Ensemble performs on Thursday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in First Free Methodist Church. This event is free and handicapped accessible. This concert will not be livestreamed.
