Spring RN to BSN Completion Ceremony

The School of Health Sciences recently celebrated as 10 members of another Group Health Cooperative RN to BSN cohort successfully completed their nursing courses. During the program-completion ceremony, SHS faculty and family members honored the students and their commitment to lifelong learning and dedication to hard work. Students completing the program include Yasmin Adbi, Jan Allenbach, Stacey Biller, Florin Gon, Katie Hagerman, Rocio Humphrey, Tiffany McGaughey, Carrie Nordlund, Barb Wiesenbach, and Jennifer White.

Dr. Lorie Wild, dean of the School of Health Sciences, shared with the group that by earning their BSN they are furthering the strength of the entire nursing profession, meeting the Institute of Medicine’s goal of having 80 percent of nurses baccalaureate-prepared by 2020. Class speaker Jennifer White shared a heartfelt and moving message filled with appreciation for family support, excellent SPU educators, and the bond of the classmates. Special awards were given:

  • Highest Scholastic Achievement Award — Rocio Humphrey and Jennifer White
  • Outstanding Student of Competence and Character — Rocio Humphry
  • Lucille Kelley Lifelong Learning Award — Stacey Biller
  • Jean Byers Visionary Award — Katie Hagerman

In her remarks, Dr. Wild reminded the GHC RN to BSN cohort that, as they finish the program, they enter into the SPU alumni family and will always remain a part of SPU.
