University Ministries: Gathering Together

Sharpen

Welcome to Sharpen

Sharpen is a ministry for all SPU students that live off-campus or in the Campus Houses and Apartments (CHA). We want students to feel connected!

We strive to bridge those gaps by providing relational opportunities: eating together, living together, studying together, worshiping together, playing together. Here is some of what we do:

Apply now for a position on sharpen core for the 2014-2015 academic year: ASSP Applications

Post-Gather Lunch: Every week, all off-campus and CHA students are invited to join us for a free lunch following the weekly Gather service. Located at the Kingswood House, 303 W. Dravus St. (email Bree at fergusonb@spu.edu)

Potlucks: Any off-campus student is welcome to bring a dish and join in as a group of students opens up their home.  There is budget available for any students who want to host a potluck (email Anna at rebischkea@spu.edu).

Mt. Si hikes: One Saturday each quarter, you are invited to come participate in a short but beautiful hike up Mount Si. You can meet at SPU to carpool or at Mt. Si if that is closer to you. Snacks provided. (email Tucker to get your name added to the interest list - rogerst@spu.edu)

Community Bible Study: Sharpen is supporting SPU's Center for Biblical and Theological Education's by promoting an opportunity to provide a unique time of biblical instruction, spiritual reflection, and multi-generational small group discussion for SPU and the surrounding community.  Learn more at http://spu.edu/academics/school-of-theology/news-archive/sot-news/2013/08/community-bible-study-psalms

If there is any other event or idea you think should be offered for transfer, commuter, off-campus and CHA students, contact us and we will do our best to make it happen! To get connected or to hear more, email Sharpen coordinator John Miller, millerj@spu.edu
