Why I work at SPU

“The small campus environment, the students and the location!”

The best career advice I have ever received, heard, or given

"When job searching, you can get a lot of 'no’s' but you only need one 'yes'"

A time I failed at something that taught me a lot

"I was job searching during the 2008 recession – I got so many “no’s” but it only took one “yes” and it ended up being the best job as Assistant Director of the Career Center at one of the California State Universities!!"

What motivates me

"My family and making the world a better place!"

Three of my favorite hobbies

"Hiking, traveling and going to the spa!"

The last book I've read for fun

"Let Your Life Speak by Parker J. Palmer"

How I have "designed a meaningful life and career" for myself

"Years ago I remember my academic advisor asking me “what brings you joy”? I told her it’s inspiring, motivating and encouraging people to reach their goals and years later it is still true! I have had jobs where I lived this calling out but sometimes had to work up to 7 days a week both days and evenings just to arrive at the place I am today. I have the best of both worlds, I get to live out my calling working with students and still have time to spend with my family. “Never underestimate the impact of one”."
