An internship allows you to integrate and apply your academic coursework to a professional work situation, gain valuable skills and experiences, and increase your marketability to future employers.

Designed to be an integral part of your academic program, an internship allows you to earn credit for learning gained in a work setting. Internships can be paid or unpaid and generally range from 10 to 20 hours of work per week for a minimum of eight to 10 weeks.

The goal of an internship is to give you on-the-job training, an orientation to the organization, and continual feedback from the supervisor. At the end of the internship, both you and your supervisor complete evaluation forms.

Each major sets specific prerequisites for participation in internships. For more information regarding your major requirements, contact your academic department or faculty advisor.
