About

Studio Arts focuses on development of skills essential for interdisciplinary creative work, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and video.

Who the program is for

Studio Arts Majors love to get their hands dirty, express their personal story and create objects and environments that move people. Studio Arts at SPU provides the opportunity to work closely with professional artists (your professors), collaborate with peers and participate in exhibitions. You have flexibility to explore a variety of media and develop your portfolio in a close-knit community of other makers.

Art has the power to cultivate wonder, create shared experiences, raise public awareness, and remind us that there are possibilities beyond what we typically see. In Studio Arts, you will delve into creative practice that develops your ability to connect what you love most with work that is meaningful in the world.

Students who have studied Studio Arts at SPU have gone on to exhibit their work in galleries and museums, work as fabricators in sculpture studios, help install international artworks, create murals, serve as sculpture foundry technicians, work at galleries and museums, teach art and challenge the status quo.
