Math Requirement

Beginning Autumn Quarter 2009, incoming University Scholars must complete the math requirement in the Exploratory Curriculum.

Students who do not complete the requirement through an SPU course fulfill the requirement through the transfer of an approved course from another post-secondary institution or an approved standardized testing program.

The approved testing programs and courses are as follows:

Advanced Placement (AP)
Calculus AB (with a score of 4 or 5)
Calculus BC (with a score of 4 or 5)
Statistics (with a score of 4 or 5)

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Calculus
College mathematics

Note: Courses taken at another school after a student begins at SPU need pre-approval from an academic counselor.

MAT 2530 Survey of Mathematics I (3)
MAT 2531 Survey of Mathematics II (2)
MAT 2700 Statistics for Business & Econ (5)
PSY 2360 Intro to Stats Soc & Behav Sci (5)
SOC 2360 Intro to Stats Soc & Behav Sci (5)


Note: Only elementary education certification students may use MAT 2530 and MAT 2531 toward Exploratory Curriculum requirements.
