An Evening of Classical Jazz

Guitarist Julian Catford and pianist Dan Kramlich combine their talents in an evening of classic jazz. From swing to bossa nova, this program features a wide sampling of some of the best songs from America’s original contribution to the world of music, jazz. Performed at Nickerson Studios.

Jazz Ensemble Concert

Dan Kramlich, director

The SPU Winter Jazz Ensemble concert features music from throughout the history of jazz, from swing to cool jazz to fusion. Join Dan Kramlich, the Jazz Lab, and the Jazz Ensemble as they explore some of America’s original music from the 20th century. Performed at Nickerson Studios.

Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concert

Danny Helseth, director

Join Danny Helseth and the SPU Wind Ensemble for their winter concert as they explore wind ensemble literature composed by women composers. The exciting sounds, beautiful melodies, and driving rhythmic grooves will have you dancing out the door following an evening of great music. Performed at First Free Methodist Church.

Gospel Choir

Stephen Michael Newby, director

Please join Seattle Pacific University’s Gospel Choir, under the direction of Stephen Michael Newby, liturgist and artistic director, and Asta Vaičekonis, piano, as they present an evening of prayers, black spirituals, and ecumenical readings celebrating tradition for Black History Month. With special guest readers from the Faculty Diversity Committee: Raedene Copeland, Karen Gutowsky-Zimmerman, June Hyun, David Leong, and Dainius Vaičekonis. Performed at First Free Methodist Church.

Symphony Orchestra Concert

Julia Tai, director

The SPU Symphony Orchestra’s winter concert, under the direction of Julia Tai, explores a variety of western classical music. Featuring styles from the calculated brilliance of Mozart to the vibrant warmth of Brahms, an evening of delightful music awaits. Performed at First Free Methodist Church.

Chamber and Women’s Choirs Concert

Chamber Choir and Concert Choir directed by Ryan Ellis; Women’s Choir directed by Beth Ann Bonnecroy

The winter concert for choirs features selections old and new from the vast choral repertory. Join Ryan Ellis, Beth Ann Bonnecroy, and the SPU vocal ensembles as they delight the ears, hearts, and minds with music that enriches our lives and strengthens community. Performed at First Free Methodist Church.

Percussion Ensemble Concert

Dan Adams, director

The Percussion Ensemble winter concert, under the direction of Dan Adams, features a variety of chamber ensembles from the percussion studio. Ranging from multiple percussion pieces to ethnic drum ensembles, you will be taken through a world of different grooves and sounds. Performed at First Free Methodist Church.
