Administrative Assistant:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in Facility and Project Management.  Responsibilities include:  Provide project and operational support to the Asst Vice President (AVP) and staff, including creating spreadsheets, maintaining vendor records, assisting in budget planning, deferred maintenance planning, and equipment request lists, monitoring budget, scheduling and tracking performance evaluations of staff; maintaining AVP calendar, making travel and conference arrangements, preparing letters, memos, and leave reports, maintaining office supplies, limited dictation and transcription, tracking and collecting time sheets, and supervising student employees.  Required qualifications include:  Two years of college or business school; two years administrative assistant experience; ability to write, proof, and spell English at the college level; proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Access; ability to multi-task and adapt to frequent interruptions and changes in priorities; ability to maintain composure and organization under periods of stress and respond effectively to emergency situations; ability to work some overtime.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $35,500-$37,500/yr.

Administrative Assistant:  Full time, nonexempt staff position in Residence Life.  Responsibilities include:  As a member of the student life staff, translate overall philosophy and objectives of SPU into a practical and meaningful set of programs, activities and services for students; provide administration and management to the Office of Residence Life (ORL) and front office support for the Office of Student Life including customer service, receptionist duties, answer phones, distribute mail, ensure working order of office equipment and order supplies; provide direct administrative support to the Director of Residence Life/Chief Judicial Officer including schedule appointments, research and investigate information, provide assistance with reports, letters and other correspondence, and make travel arrangements; hire, train and supervise front desk student assistants; provide administrative support to the ORL staff and programs including take minutes in weekly staff meeting, maintain student discipline database and records, coordinate yearly staff searches, serve on ORL sub committee and  coordinate and assist with Peer Advisor selection, evaluation and education; provide budget management including process and track budget forms, assist in projecting budget needs, and train staff on forms and processes; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Associates degree in office processes or related field or equivalent; three years of previous experience; experience that reflects an ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, work efficiently and independently with close attention to detail, written and oral communication and human relations skills, supervise student employees, calendar management, follow-through, and maintain high standard of organization and professionalism; experience with personal computers running Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook required (Publisher and PowerPoint a plus).  Preferred qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $30,000 - $33,000/yr.

Administrative Assistant & Data Management Assistant:  Full-time (32 hours per week), nonexempt staff position in Information and Data Management (IDM).  Responsibilities include:  provide administrative support to the Associate Vice President (AVP) including budget paperwork, managing calendar and correspondence, assisting AVP with word processing, data entry and other computer related tasks, assisting AVP in gathering emergency disaster plans, and supporting IDM office; provide data management support for internal and external reporting and assist in completing various projects and surveys; provide support in the creation of and maintenance of IDM Web pages; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  High school diploma with extensive work experience or Associate’s degree with two years of office experience; two years of office experience and demonstrated ability in administrative support including office management skills and computer knowledge (word processing, excel); ability to utilize appropriate statistical calculations/applications when completing internal and external reports; a high degree of judgment, discretion, flexibility and tact along with attention to detail; must be  able to answer phones and work effectively with all types of audiences; ability to communicate well in verbal and written form, and maintain detailed project documentation; demonstrated ability as a proactive communicator with exceptional human relations skills; able to work dependently and independently, depending on project to insure tasks are completed on time and with 100% accuracy.  Preferred qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree; three years of office experience and demonstrated ability in administrative support including computer knowledge (word processing, excel, administrative system, access, power point).  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $28,500-$29,952/yr.

Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/Interim:  Full-time, interim, exempt staff position in Athletics.  Responsibilities include:  Administer the NCAA compliance program to establish accountability in areas of student-athlete eligibility and rules compliance for the institution and coaches; develop, implement and monitor critical systems for NCAA, Great Northwest Athletic Conference and Seattle Pacific University rules, policies and procedures; represent SPU Athletics at NCAA functions; perform duties as Senior Women’s Administrator; support Athletic Director with special event planning for department and booster clubs; represents Athletics to prospects and incoming student-athletes regarding eligibility; develop and manage systems for monitoring student-athlete eligibility and academic progress toward degree, anticipate student-athlete difficulties and develop strategies for student academic success, and advise head coaches and/or refer student-athletes for academic and support services; engage the University community by participating in campus activities, including faculty meetings, all-staff meetings, chapels, forums, retreats; represent SPU at Falcon Club board meetings and events, plan and organize annual Falcon Golf Classic with tournament director, and coordinate and supervise Falcon Lounge hosting for athletics public relations and fundraising events; availability to work some evenings and weekends; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree; 2-3 years experience with NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics compliance legislation; strong interest in Athletics, student-athletes and related issues; high degree of integrity and credibility; maturing and contagious Christian faith, knowledge of and the willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletes, students, faculty, administration and the community; proficiency with Microsoft Office products.  Preferred qualifications include:  Master’s degree; five year’s experience with NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics compliance and/or academic services.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $44,000-$48,000/yr.

Coordinator, Housing and Meal Plan Customer ServiceFull-time, nonexempt staff position in University Services. Responsibilities include: Provide customer assistance to students and parents through direct contact at the service desk and by responding to incoming phone calls, voicemail and email; communicate with students about housing and meal plan processes, deadlines and events; coordinate the housing application process for new students; utilize housing software (Banner) to data enter and query information; sell meal plans to faculty, staff and students at the customer service desk; utilize meal plan software (CBORD) to add points and blocks to patron accounts; revise housing and meal plan forms; take pictures and produce campus ID cards for students, faculty and staff; other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include:  Associate’s degree or equivalent; experience in an office environment; demonstrated customer service and communication skills; strong problem-solving and organizational skills; detail-oriented; ability to prioritize multiple demands and work independently; responsible and professional; proven Microsoft Office computer skills; flexible and willing to work overtime in peak seasons. Position will be open until filled. Salary:  $30,500-$32,500/yr.

 

Coordinator of Multi-Ethnic Programs:  Full-time (32 hours per week), 10-month, exempt staff position in the Office of Student Life.  Responsibilities include:  Provide leadership in the development of targeted campus programming to promote greater awareness to issues of ethnic diversity and reconciliation; assist director to develop and provide support services for ethnic minority students, promote greater campus awareness and educational programs regarding reconciliation, and build collaborative relationships with campus constituencies; work with student leaders and advisors of culturally focused, registered student organizations to assist them in planning social, educational, recreational, and service programs and activities; offer personal support to ethnic minority students regarding academic, spiritual, social, personal and financial concerns and make appropriate referrals as needed.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree; previous experience working with ethnic minority students in an advising, organizing, support role, especially at the college level; understanding of multicultural issues from a Christian perspective; strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly with African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American and international students; previous experience with event planning and/or student organization advising; must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include irregular hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.  Preferred qualifications include:  Master’s degree in student development, multi-ethnic studies or related field; 1-2 years experience in full-time professional student affairs with a focus on multi-ethnic and international students; previous experience working in Christian higher education; publishing/design experience.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $21,452/yr.

Fellows Development Officer:  Full-time, exempt staff position in External Relations.  Responsibilities include:  Cultivate new donors to join the Seattle Pacific University Fellows program; steward relationships with existing Fellows by ensuring annual support to university; participate in strategic events and Fellows events to recruit new Fellows and steward existing Fellows; collaborate with Assistant Vice President on implementation of Target Cities strategy to expand Fellows in assigned regions; document and track contacts and donor cultivation progress for individual donors and geographic regions; provide timely and excellent customer service for all constituents; field work is 70% of the position.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent; experience in fundraising or sales related position; ability to work independently and demonstrated success in a self-directed environment; ability to work with a team; strong interpersonal and communication skills; professional appearance and work ethic; ability to work on evenings and weekends with some travel; understanding of marketing and branding; must understand, embrace, and articulate SPU’s Christian mission and institutional vision.  Preferred qualifications include:  SPU alum status; degree from a CCCU institution; fundraising experience in higher education; professional experience in a Christian university; education and/or experience in marketing and branding; database reporting and tracking.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.

Lead Maintenance Painter:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in Facility Management.  Responsibilities include:  Prepare surfaces for painting, finishing and/or wall covering, including patching and repairing plaster, wallboard, wood surfaces and masonry, mixing and blending colors for all types of stains, enamels, lacquers, latex paints, oil paints and varnishes,  cleaning and maintaining painting equipment; develop preliminary cost estimates; maintain accurate record of paint colors pertaining to all campus facilities; lead and instruct other trades personnel in the application and maintenance of painted surfaces; provide support for carpentry, electrical, plumbing trades; perform back-up for asbestos removal and testing; hire, train and supervise 15-20 seasonal student employees; be on-call on a rotating basis approximately four times per year, by being available via phone and pager and being able to respond to campus within 2 hours of contact; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Graduation from a vocation technical school with a Journey level certification; 2 years of Journey level work in paint application and drywall as well as competence in repair and maintenance in support of other shops; valid Washington State driver’s license and ability to drive service vehicle; ability to load and unload materials and be available to access all areas of campus any hour of the day or night; must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and be able to carry, climb and lift different size ladders; proficient in the use of service trucks, hand and power tools, forklift, high lifts, cherry pickers, pressure washers, paint sprayers, sewer machines.  Preferred qualifications include:  Three years Journey experience; certified asbestos worker and forklift certification.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $50,000-$53,160/yr, depending upon experience.

Maintenance Technician:  Full time, nonexempt staff position in Building Maintenance. Responsibilities include:  Perform maintenance in the university residence life areas; resolve work requests generated by students including clearing drains, switch and outlet repairs, furniture repair, lighting and fixture repair,  and small plumbing repairs; audit buildings to create and perform preventative maintenance activities; assess buildings for vandalism, repair, and report issues; may assist journey trades worker by performing duties related to carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, steam fitting, mechanical or electrical work; may lead or instruct helpers or maintenance workers as required; responsible to be on-call on a rotating basis approximately four times per year, be available via phone or pager, and be able to respond to campus within two hours while on-call.  Preferred qualifications include:  female applicants, six months full time related vocational study, training or applicable work experience.  Required qualifications include: High school diploma or GED equivalent; mechanical aptitude; must possess a valid Washington State drivers license and be able to meet SPU's minimum driving requirements; experience using service trucks, hand tools, power drills and trades-related power equipment; customer service oriented; able to work independently, respond appropriately to variety of personalities and requests, and make field decisions within specific guidelines. Position will remain open until filled.  Salary: $30,000/yr.

Manager of Conference Services for Camp Casey and Fort Casey InnFull-time, exempt staff position at Camp Casey, Whidbey Island.  Responsibilities include:  Provide leadership for the coordinator of administration and coordinator of customer services  and management of the university’s conference services and reservations operations of Camp Casey and Fort Casey Inn; lead the customer service staff through the development  of a viable vision and implementation of the vision by performance planning, coaching and annual evaluations; oversee and emphasize scheduling and space allocation,  food service administration, and ongoing evaluation and improvement of the operations and related systems; secure an expanding customer base with marketing ideas, and implement marketing efforts, including planning, research and evaluation of publicity and promotional materials; negotiate, prepare and administer contracts with clients; participate in the annual budget process for revenue and expenditures and oversee the  collection of monthly accounts receivable;  participate in rotating on-call schedule for off hours and weekends(under review); reside on Casey campus; other related duties.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; knowledge and experience in conference center operations including sales contract  negotiation; demonstrated skills in leadership , an ability to work well with others, strong initiative, and a self-directed work style;  excellent verbal and written communication skills; competency with Microsoft Office and enterprise software applications; capable of climbing stairs and moving furnishings; possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.  Preferred qualifications include:  Three years experience in conference/group center management; management experience in a team setting.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE including on-site housing.

Manager University Fund:  Full-time, exempt staff position in Annual Giving.  Responsibilities include:  Oversee university efforts to acquire new donors, upgrade occasional donors to regular donors and increase the amount given; supervise student telemarketing manager and team; oversee comprehensive, segmented and targeted direct mail program; lead strategic development of programs and processes to improve alumni participation rates; develop and implement electronic solicitations strategy and oversee Advancement ecommerce and web maintenance; develop and direct giving plan for parents of SPU students; develop and direct plan to maximize corporate matching fits; develop and direct faculty and staff giving program; develop and direct senior class gift program; make personal donor contacts as directed; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field; five years experience in mass marketing; fluent with Microsoft Office products, including Excel.  Preferred qualifications include:  experience in non-profit mass marketing.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary: DOE. 

Managing Editor of Response Magazine :  Full-time, exempt staff position in University Communications.  Responsibilities include:  Manage the production of SPU’s award-winning institutional magazine, Response; working with the senior editor, help to propose both content and policy to the Response Editorial Board; oversee the production schedule, writing, editing, photography assignments, proofing, corrections, and printing and mailing arrangements for the magazine; and participate in the creation and implementation of a business plan for the national growth of Response.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field; five years of progressively responsible experience as a magazine and/or publications editor; demonstrated professional experience and skill in magazine/feature writing; demonstrated content-editing and copy-editing skills; demonstrated experience in publication production management; demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to create effective partnerships/collaborations within the department and across the University; an affinity for accuracy and detail; an even temperament; effective resource management skills;  proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel; and a commitment to SPU’s vision and the ability to express it creatively through a print and online magazine.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.

Office Manager / Events Coordinator: Full-time, exempt staff position in the School of Business and Economics (SBE).  Responsibilities include:  Manage and facilitate interactions with on and off-campus constituencies, including providing assistance to the Dean in the management of faculty and staff within SBE; provide administrative assistance to the Dean, including scheduling meetings, addressing personnel issues, project planning and management, making travel arrangements, and supervising student employees; coordinate faculty evaluation process, management of faculty recruitment processes, and oversee the development and maintenance of SBE’s database system; assist in planning the logistics for and manage SBE special events; provide professional organization skills for overall general planning and implementation of frequent external conferences and events, including the management of related budgets; provide management of relationships with the Executive Advisory Council, including scheduling meetings and managing the budget; other related duties as assigned.   Required qualifications include:  High school degree or equivalent; two years of office experience; strong people and organizational skills; ability to problem solve, prioritize, process work quickly and make efficient use of time; proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.  Preferred qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree; 5-10 years of office experience with prior experience in event planning and management.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $40,000-$44,000/yr.

Program Assistant:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in Safety and Security.  Responsibilities include:  Function as the university’s Employee Transportation Coordinator; develop programs, complete surveys and submit reports that meet various state and city regulations specifically related to the State of Washington Commute Trip Reduction Program; manage the university parking and motor pool programs and assist in the development and maintenance of various safety programs; assist with office management, including maintaining financial records, office filing, personnel records, and written correspondence.  Required qualifications include:  High school diploma, or equivalent; one year experience in customer service or administrative support; valid Washington State Driver’s License; satisfactory completion of First Aid and CPR training to be completed after hire; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Front Page; exhibit a high level of integrity with confidential and sensitive matters; be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision to produce high quality work and meet simultaneous project deadlines on time and on budget.  Preferred qualifications include:  Two years college; cashiering and basic accounting skills.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $32,500-$34,300/yr, DOE.

Program Coordinator, Clinical Psychology (CPY):  Full time (32 hours per week), non-exempt staff position in the School of Psychology, Family and Community.  Responsibilities include:  Provide support to the CPY Department Chair for overall administrative functioning of the department in the areas of academic processes, accreditation, dissertation, internship and practicum;  assist with and provide clerical support in the following areas:  Advising, by maintaining regular contact with current students on progress; Communication, by ensuring information is gathered and distributed appropriately; Recruitment, by communicating and interpreting program information ; Admissions, by processing admission applications; Special events, by coordinating student events; Budgets, by preparing requests for payments and reimbursements.  Required qualifications include:  Associate’s degree in office processes, related field, or equivalent; two years office and clerical support experience; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and tasks; attention to detail; strong interpersonal and presentational communication skills; composed presence under pressure; proficiency with Microsoft Office products.  Preferred qualifications include:  Bachelors degree in related field; one year of academic support and/or program coordination experience.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $22,882 - $27,535/yr.

Program Coordinator, Psychology:  Full-time (32-40 hours per week), nonexempt staff position in the School of Psychology, Family and Community.  Responsibilities include:  Provide administrative and clerical support to the Psychology Department Chair and Faculty; manage front desk operations and multiple phone line and voice mail phone system; hire, train, supervise and evaluate student workers;  conduct quarterly review of student transcripts to track program completion; gather and distribute information appropriately; communicate and interpret program information; evaluate and process admission applications; coordinate student events; prepare requests for payments and reimbursements; assist in qualitative data analysis and summary reports; provide administrative support to the Dean and Budget Manager as needed.  Required qualifications include:   Associate’s degree in office processes, related field, or equivalent; two years of office and clerical support experience; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and tasks; strong attention to detail; strong interpersonal and presentational communicationskills; composed presence under pressure; proficiency with Microsoft Office products.  Preferred qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in related field; one year of academic support and/or program coordination experience.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $22,882-$27,535/yr.

Security Officer I: Full-time (32 hours per week), non-exempt staff position in the Office of Safety & Security.  Responsibilities include: Initial response to all emergencies situations, including medical, fire and criminal; investigate incidents and prepare written reports; offer and execute customer service as follows: escorts, let-ins, lock/unlock buildings and rooms, automobile assistance; patrol, observe and protect SPU properties; respond to alarms, emergencies, criminal activity and SPU policy violations.  Required qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent; six months of security officer experience; must be able to complete upon hire: First Aid, CPR, Fire Brigade, and WACLEA Security Officer training; ability to lift a 30 lb. fire extinguisher and carry up four flights of stairs in 60 seconds; ability to visually observe campus grounds and CCTV; possess a valid WDL and have a good driving record; able to use phones, 2-way radios and audible alarm systems; ability to communicate effectively; ability to work holidays on a rotation basis with other staff members.  Preferred qualifications include: some higher education credits; customer service experience, multilingual skills, and strong clerical ability.  Position will remain open until filled.  Work hours include a swing and graveyard split and may be rotated from time to time as required to meet staffing objectives.  Salary: $24,500-$26,000/yr.

Student Loan Coordinator:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in Student Financial Services.  Responsibilities include:  Administer the Federal Perkins Loan Program, the Federal Nursing Loan Program, private alternative loans and the SPU Institutional Loan Program and ensure compliance with program regulations and guidelines and institutional policies and procedures; reconcile each loan program monthly; generate promissory notes and applicable loan documentation, process new loans and loan advances; develop and deliver entrance and exit loan counseling for students; perform annual reviews to evaluate program compliance; communicate with staff on changes in loan regulations and SPU policy; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, or three years related office experience; three years experience in accounting, program management and/or providing customer service; excellent attention to detail; basic accounting skills; computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office products; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; flexible and adaptive; ability to cope with stress in a positive manner; ability to successfully manage multiple priorities; excellent written and oral communication skills.  Preferred qualifications include:  Demonstrated skill in customer service, communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation; student financial aid and loan processing experience.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $32,000-$33,500/yr.

Systems Analyst/Systems Administrator—Central Systems:  Full-time, exempt staff position in Computer and Information Systems (CIS).  Responsibilities include:  Provide high level skill and expertise in the maintenance and administration of central servers, including Windows, Unix, and Linux Servers; provide high level skill and expertise in the maintenance and administration of central server applications, including system level backup and restore, messaging services (Exchange), database servers (SQL*Server), web servers (IIS and Apache), Microsoft clustering, print/file servers and storage area networks (SAN); implement and maintain central computer systems hardware and software, including design, installation, programming, security administration, testing, documentation and support; act as liaison representing CIS to the SPU user community and between SPU and third party vendors; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field; three years of experience in systems development and administration, software programming or computer systems support; extensive experience with multiple operating environments; experience with Windows internals, Active Directory, clustering and system administration tools; extensive experience with email messaging systems (including Exchange, SMTP), system level backup and restore; extensive experience with computer networking (Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) in a multi-vendor environment; experience with relational database systems (Oracle, SQLServer, MySQL) and development tools; experience with Internet tools (ftp, telnet, http) and web based programming and development tools (asp, CGI, Perl, PHP); experience with web server tools and applications (IIS, Apache); experience with Storage Are Networks (SAN); excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.  Preferred qualifications include:  Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, MCAD).  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $53,000-$55,000/yr (DOE).

Anticipated Openings:

Program Coordinator for Disability Support Services:  Full-time (36 hours per week), nonexempt staff position in the Center for Learning.  Responsibilities include:  Coordinate support services, including administrative and budget management, for students with disabilities; review and assess documentation and accommodation requirements; interview, assess and provide referrals for students with potential disabilities; serve as liaison to University legal counsel regarding Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; interact with professional organizations for current sources of legal and civil rights information; develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws; assist with managing DSS budget; provide resources and professional development to faculty, staff, and students regarding disabilities issues; hire, train, schedule, and supervise student assistant; other related duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Two or more years professional experience in higher education setting; one year experience in disability or related student support services; knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and ADA; familiarity with services and adaptive technology used to assist students with disabilities; competency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.  Preferred qualifications include:  Masters Degree in counseling or social work; training in reviewing and interpreting documentation including psycho-educational evaluations; two or more years working in progressively responsible higher education settings providing disability services or in counseling, social work, or mental health settings; familiarity with Banner student information system and database software.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.
