Access Services Technician: Full-time (32 hours per week), non-exempt staff position in the Library. Responsibilities include: Perform complex tasks in the Access Services Department and at the Circulation/Reserve Desk, to provide library users with clear and easy access to library materials and services; teach and supervise student employees in the use of the online catalog and other circulation systems; perform complex circulation services and make decisions concerning exceptional circumstances; assist with the day-to-day operations of Summit Borrowing; respond to telephone and in-library inquiries and refer patrons to appropriate staff; negotiate and resolve, or report, library user complaints concerning building, equipment or service; troubleshoot, service and provide assistance to library users in the operation of equipment, including copy machines and related equipment; substitute and perform the duties of absent staff and student employees as needed; assume responsibility for the safety and security of staff, students, equipment, and materials in the building and during emergencies; responsible for opening and closing the building as assigned; a typical work schedule is an evening closing shift Sunday through Thursday. Responsibilities include: Two years of college courses; one year of technical experience working in a library or closely related activity; one year of public service experience; typing and filing skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent organization skills; proven ability to work in a team environment. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor degree; course work in library education; two years of technical experience working in a library; two years of public service and supervisory experience. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $26,052/yr.
Admissions Counselor: Full-time, exempt staff position in Undergraduate Admissions. Responsibilities include: Responsible for all aspects of admissions cycle from initial contact to enrollment; manage 5-6 geographic market regions as assigned by writing a marketing plan, visiting and recruiting students, providing detailed follow up; cultivate prospective students in assigned areas, including visiting high schools, community colleges, church and para-church organizations, college fairs, and families; responsible for quality assurance and generation of web content for Undergraduate Admissions’ web pages, social media outlets, and other e-recruiting efforts; develop relationships with students and leaders of ethnically diverse backgrounds through culturally responsive conversations and outreach events; understand and effectively communicate university policy, all academic programs, co-curricular activities, athletics, fine and performing arts and other aspects of university life; participate in the planning and implementation of campus events as assigned; meet and interview prospective students on and off the SPU campus; responsible for specific programs and periodic recruiting assignments. Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree; one or two years of applicable job experience; general experience with college age students; experience or interest in marketing; computer application and system experience; direct experience with SPU; presentation and public speaking experience; demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to inspire and motivate people; professional presence and appearance; understanding of, commitment to, and ability to articulate SPU mission; flexibility to respond to changing market environment by quickly developing new marketing strategies; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; ability to work with students in potentially volatile situations; project management skills; flexibility to adapt work hours to the peaks of the admissions calendar, including evenings and weekends. Preferred qualifications include: Marketing, public relations, or communications experience. Position will remain posted until July 17th. Salary: $31,000-$33,000/yr.
Assistant Coach, Gymnastics/Assist Director of Falcon Gymnastics Center: Full-time, exempt staff position in Athletics. Responsibilities include: Assist in practice activities, including practice sessions, conditioning workouts, weekly coaches meetings; assist 1st assistant in recruiting tasks, including analyzing recruit videos, obtain NCAA recruiting certification; perform routine maintenance on all gymnastics equipment; assistant in organization and floor management of home competitions; assist in the implementation of all aspects of the Falcon Gymnastics team program, including serve as head coach of a competitive Junior Olympic level team, plan and supervise practices, assist in development of competitive schedule, communication updates to team families; other duties as assigned by Head Coach. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $28,000-$32,000/yr.
Assistant Coach, Women’s Volleyball: Part-time (13 hrs/wk), nonexempt staff position in Athletics. Responsibilities include: Provide a positive Christian coach role model; participate in organization and execution of volleyball recruitment, practice, scheduling and game coordination; support student-athlete welfare and good academic standing of team members; be a key contact and manager of summer camps; provide for spiritual and social development of student athletes; recruit student-athletes and is available for recruiting administration; conform to and is knowledgeable of all NCAA regulations and conference requirements and exhibit proficiency through a passing score on the NCAA coaches examination; participate in organization and execution of team practices and individual workouts; cooperate in specified game assignments, sets up opponent scouting network, develop a master schedule and file on each, secure up-to-date information by scouting, maintain the videotape exchange program; organize fundraising events such as camps and high school/club tournaments; other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in athletics, related field, or equivalent; two years pervious experience in coaching volleyball at the high school or collegiate level; Basic first aid, CPR, AED, valid Washington State driver’s license; knowledge and technical skills necessary to accomplish the assigned task; maturing and contagious Christian faith, knowledge of and willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletes, students, faculty, administration and the community; proficient in word processing, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $10,000/yr
Coordinator, Schedule and Publications: Part time (18 hours per week), nonexempt staff position in Student Academic Services (SAS). Responsibilities include: In cooperation with other SAS staff, update and create the graduate catalog, update and maintain the on-line and published Time Schedule, schedule classrooms, and maintain and update electronic files; assist with on campus registration; other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: High school diploma or GED, one year experience in office environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to handle multiple priorities and flexible to meet critical needs; ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment; excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree; familiarity with SCT Banner systems; experience in college/university administration, admissions or other enrollment management area. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $14,140/yr.
Micro Systems Analyst: Full time, exempt staff position in Computer and Information Systems (CIS). Responsibilities include: Act as a professional liaison representing CIS to SPU faculty and staff; implement and maintain desktop/laptop hardware and software; engage in long range planning for desktop/laptop computing standards and support; configure and manage various central desktop management products; supervise student employees (hire, train, evaluate, and assign tasks); provide end user training; and other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related technical field) plus two years applied experience in desktop/laptop consulting support, or equivalent combination of education and experience; extensive experience troubleshooting and maintaining desktop/laptop hardware and software; experience with multiple desktop operating systems, desktop tools, and applications; superior customer service and analytical skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Preferred qualifications include: Experience with server operating systems, centralized antivirus management, Active Directory, AD Group Policy, Systems Management Server, WSUS, and other centralized desktop tools. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $52,000-$55,000/yr, DOE.
Student Financial Services Representative: Full time, non-exempt staff position in Student Financial Services. Responsibilities include: provide accurate information ranging from routine processing of inquiries to explaining complex application, eligibility, and program-specific requirements in a high volume, fast-paced environment, to all undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral prospective and continuing students; process a large volume of cash transactions resulting from the disbursement of federal, state, and institutional financial aid to students, process payments, and authorize refunds; timely and accurate response to inquiries via telephone, in person, mail and email regarding all aspects of a students financial situation ; responsible for understanding and accurately applying all federal, state, and institutional regulations that governs the proper distribution of financial aid; responsible for $400 cash till and accurately processing cash payments up to $300,000 daily; use professional judgment to make decisions on policy exceptions, research situations and communicate options and outcomes to students. Required qualifications include: a high school diploma; two years of office experience; excellent communication, public relations and counseling skills; understanding and interest in customer service; an aptitude for computerized record keeping systems and analytical ability; team oriented; ability to cope with stress in a positive manner; strong attention to detail; flexibility to handle multiple priorities with poise and professionalism; proficient in MS Office software, mainframe computer systems, and ten-key. Preferred qualifications include: AA degree or two years of college; previous experience in a college or university; familiarity with federal financial aid. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $30,000/yr.
Systems Analyst/Systems Administrator—Central Systems: Full-time, exempt staff position in Computer and Information Systems (CIS). Responsibilities include: Provide high level skill and expertise in the maintenance and administration of central servers, including Windows, IBM AIX, and Linux Servers; provide high level skill and expertise in the maintenance and administration of central server applications, including system level backup and restore, messaging services (Exchange), database servers (SQL*Server), web servers (IIS and Apache), Microsoft clustering, print/file servers and iSCSI based storage area networks (SAN); implement and maintain central computer systems hardware and software, including design, installation, programming, security administration, testing, documentation and support; act as liaison representing CIS to the SPU user community and between SPU and third party vendors; other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field; three years of experience in systems development and administration, software programming or computer systems support; extensive experience with multiple operating environments; experience with Windows internals, Active Directory, clustering and system administration tools; extensive experience with email messaging systems (including Exchange, SMTP), system level backup and restore (Symantec Netbackup or similar); extensive experience with computer networking (Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) in a multi-vendor environment; experience with relational database systems (Oracle, SQLServer, MySQL) and development tools; experience with Internet tools (ftp, telnet, http) and web based programming and development tools (asp, CGI, Perl, PHP); experience with web server tools and applications (IIS, Apache); experience with iSCSI based Storage Are Networks (SAN); experience with Virtualization software VMWare (ESX and ESXi) or Hypervisor; excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
