Autumn quarter is wrapping up, and I’d like to share some highlights with you. We celebrated a record enrollment (more than 4,200 students), all five of our athletic teams advanced to NCAA post-season play, and our online, weekly Scripture reading program (Lectio) reached more than 3,000 people. These indicators of success are part of what makes us a premier, national, Christian university.
Most of you know that my time here is coming to a close, as I will be retiring at the end of this academic year. But the work of this great University is far from over. There is much to be done! We aim to increase our visibility and impact both in our region and around the world; students need scholarships now more than ever before; academic programs must continue to be generously funded; additional classrooms are needed; and so much more.
Will you join me in making a difference in the lives of SPU students today by including Seattle Pacific in your year-end charitable giving? Gifts of $1,000 or more qualify you for membership in the President’s Circle; members of this group enjoy invitations to special events, insider communications, and more. All gifts received by December 31, 2011 will qualify for a 2011 charitable tax receipt.
I have always counted our parents to be our partners in this great work of educating the next generation of leaders for our world. Thank you for your friendship along the way. And may God bless you and your family during this Christmas season.
