Next Steps for Freshmen

Congratulations on your acceptance to Seattle Pacific University! We can't wait to welcome you to campus this autumn. Here are your next steps, including important deadlines for housing and to make sure you get full access to financial aid.

 1. Submit your advance payment as soon as possible

If you haven’t already, submit your $200 advance payment to confirm your spot. Find instructions here.

 3. Apply for Financial Aid

Fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after October 1 as possible. Apply now, FAFSA is still available. Have the results sent to Seattle Pacific University (SPU’s school code for FAFSA is 003788). Financial aid packages are typically issued 10 days after FAFSA application is received.

 4. Sign up for New Student Advising Now

You're required to sign up for New Student Advising, the process for signing up for your classes, so we can prepare your records and materials for advising and registration. Classes are filling up fast! Watch your mailbox and SPU email for more information. For important details on how to sign up, please visit the NSA webpage.

 5. Sign Up for Housing

If you missed the June 1 deadline, you can still sign up for the 2nd round of housing assignments. Sign up now. Find more information on housing requirements, how to apply, and application deadlines at spu.edu/housing.

 6. Sign up for Orientation

Right before classes begin, you will take part in a required event called Orientation. Parents and guests are invited to attend the first two days. Watch your mail and SPU email for more information in the late spring.

 7. Send Official Academic Transcripts by August 1

High school students: We need your final academic transcript with a posted graduation date by August 1. (Your financial aid will be affected if we don’t have this.) Transfer students: Please submit your high school transcripts. If you are transferring any college credits, please also submit your college transcripts.

 8. Return a Medical History Form and Immunization Record by september 1

You will need to send us this information by September 1. Please download the forms on the Health Center website and mail or fax to:

 9. Update Your Emergency Contacts

If you’ve made your advance payment, you’re probably logged into Banner (SPU’s online site to check your grades and transcripts, and to enroll in classes). While you're there, update your emergency contacts, which are found under the Personal menu.

 10. Submit Your Campus Card Photo Online

Beginning May 1st, you can upload your photo for your SPU campus card using the MyPhoto portal. This multipurpose ID card is your key to campus and will be available for pick up on move-in day! Photos must be uploaded by September 1.
