Jacquie Estrada

Bio

Hi! My name is Jacquie Estrada and I am a visual designer. I was born in Seattle and raised in Bellingham, Washington. Growing up, I always had a love for creativity and embracing the artistic and funky city I grew up in. I found myself back in Seattle for college when I decided to pursue design. My main influences stem from my surroundings, community, and personal passions such as fashion and sustainability. Stylistically, my work is driven by color and typography, designing minimalist yet vibrant and playful pieces. As my college career comes to a close, I have aspirations to use my skills to create work that empowers and uplifts others.

Being creatively driven by brand identity, package design, illustration, and so much more, I am looking forward to helping individuals bring their story to life. Finding strategies in which I am able to share an important narrative through design is one of many interests I am excited to put into fruition. With this being said, I am excited to share I will be working as a creative designer at the design company Mango Ink this coming fall. Not only will I be designing stationery and other print design, I will be learning letterpress. I have always gravitated towards tangible mediums when blocked by the digital space, so learning letterpress will build my skill set while also providing a fun new creative outlet. I like to believe there is always room to grow and learn as designers, which is why I am excited for my future creative endeavors.

Behind the Seams

This project focused on creating an app prototype surrounding the question, “What would you like to hear from your elected officials?” I decided to target the fashion industry and their impacts on our environment and people. My mission for this project was to create a platform where an individual can efficiently find authentic information on their clothing brand of choice by simply scanning the apparel’s tag.

“Digital design is like painting, except the paint never dries.”

Whale Infographic

The SPU science department asked the senior visual communications class to individually design an infographic about the Longbranch whale displayed in Eaton Hall. For my infographic, I was given the opportunity to research the relationship between the Makah tribe and whaling. A fellow classmate and myself were later chosen to display our designs in the building.
