Governor Jay Inslee has directed Washington State and United States flags at all Washington State agency facilities to half-staff in memory of Chief Warrant Officer Jacob M. Sims, who died of injuries he sustained in a helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan on October 27, 2017. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
