"Lunch and Learn" With Copying Services

SPU's Copying Services, in partnership with FedEx Office, will host a “Lunch and Learn" seminar on Tuesday, August 28, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Library Seminar Room. We will feature online copying services using the “FedEx Office Print Online" tool. We will provide an overview of the website, tips and tricks on how to get the most out of the website, and also answer any questions that you may have and/or problems you have experienced in the past. Lunch will be provided and space is limited, so please sign up early by emailing SPU Mailing and Copying Services Manager Frank Kinard at

OBP Summer Event

The First Free Methodist Church staff would like to continue to meet with SPU faculty and staff during lunch for a time of connection, encouragement, and worship. Departmental Milestones or Alumni Reunions in 2013?

Celebrating any departmental milestones or alumni reunions in 2013? The Alumni Office is planning Homecoming 2013, January 24–26, and would love to support your gathering. In past years, alumni groups have celebrated significant anniversary reunions including crew's 40th reunion, the 70th anniversary of Family and Consumer Sciences, and the Theatre Department's 50th season. Summer Cleaning in Your Office? Don't Forget the SPU Archives.

Doing some summer cleaning in your office? The SPU Archives wants your materials! If you have any items that show the history of the university or your department's part in it, please consider sending those items to the archives. Examples of archival materials include (but aren't limited to) department meeting minutes and agendas; department publications; photographs and memorabilia. If you have something to donate, or have any questions, contact University Archivist Adrienne Meier at or 206-281-2422.

Mailing Services on Summer Schedule

Mailing and Copying Services is now on its summer hours schedule. There will be one mail delivery and pickup time in the afternoon. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. If you will be out of the office for an extended period of time, let Mailing Services know so that they can hold your mail for you until your return. Fac/Staff Bulletin on Summer Schedule

During the summer, the Fac/Staff Bulletin is published every other week. If you have information or event news, send it as soon as possible to Fac/Staff Bulletin editor Tracy Norlen at Submissions may be edited for clarity. The next deadline is Thursday, August 30. Due to the Labor Day holiday, the next Bulletin will be published Tuesday, September 4.


Lim Contributes Article for IVP Dictionary of the Old Testament Prophets

Associate Professor of Old Testament Bo Lim wrote an entry titled "Isaiah: History of Interpretation" for the newly released Dictionary of the Old Testament Prophets (Downers Grove: IVP, 2012).

Lee's Professional Activities During the Summer

Professor of Clothing and Textiles Jaeil Lee was an invited speaker to the Korean Modelism Association's biannual meeting at Ehwa Women's University in Seoul, Korea, on August 3. She gave a lecture and led a workshop titled “Curriculum Development for Technical Design in Clothing and Textiles Higher Education." Korean clothing and textiles professors and Korean fashion professionals participated. Jaeil said it was well received. Jaeil also spent part of her summer teaching in Mongolia. She joined two other professors to team-teach an intensive summer course on fashion merchandising and retailing at Mongolian International University in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It was a service project sponsored by SPU's Serve Grant for 2012-13. She and the professors created a research presentation from this project titled “Teaching Locally, Learning Globally: Team-Taught Class in Mongolia and South Korea." The presentation has been accepted at the joint symposium of the International Textile and Apparel Association and the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles meeting in Hawaii in November.
