Seattle Sounders Encourage You to Contribute to United Way

SPU kicked off its 2010 United Way campaign on June 7. You should have received a letter about the campaign from Associate Director of Academic Counseling Debbie Crouch, encouraging you to log in and make your gift online. To encourage giving, there will be a drawing for two sets of tickets to the Seattle Sounders soccer match against Dallas on Sunday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. These are VIP club level seats that include access to the field prior to the game and entry to the VIP lounge that includes complimentary refreshments. Please support our local community by making a pledge to United Way by June 30. If you need further information, contact Debbie at 206-281-2446 or Make your gift online. More

Castelo's Article Published

An article by Assistant Professor of Theology Daniel Castelo was recently published in the International Journal of Systematic Theology 12.3 (2010): 364-372. The article, titled "Continued Grappling: The Divine Impassibility Debates Today," engages a recently released text as a springboard to consider both the advancements and continued challenges that face contemporary impassibilists' (whether God suffers) discussions in Christian theology.

Kelly as Bravo Publishes First Romance Novel

Communications Specialist Clint Kelly, under the pen name Carolyn Bravo, has published White Water Preacher, his first inspirational romance novel. The contemporary romance is set in the fictional backwater of Roaring River, Nevada. It is a place where people go to escape their past, and the town folk are just a tad suspicious of anyone who comes looking for anyone. Advertising executive Kelli Martin tumbles into town and soon wishes she'd stayed in San Francisco. Except for one thing. His name is Spence Tulane, interim pastor and taxidermist, who gives flannel a mighty good name. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and hopefully you'll part with the $12.99 to buy a copy (available SPU Bookstore). The Kindle version's cheaper, but who wants to read plastic?
