N.T. Wright Free Public Lecture Tonight, Nov. 13

N.T. Wright

Seattle Pacific Seminary and the Center for Biblical and Theological Education invite you to campus to hear the Rev. Dr. N.T. Wright, one of the world’s leading Bible scholars, talk about the Psalms.

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m.

Royal Brougham Pavilion, SPU Campus

The former Bishop of Durham, UK, Wright currently serves as the chair of New Testament and Early Christianity in the School of Divinity at the University of St. Andrews. For 20 years, he taught New Testament studies at Cambridge, McGill, and Oxford Universities, and he has been featured on ABC News, Dateline, The Colbert Report, and Fresh Air.

Wright, who has been called “the C.S. Lewis for our time,” is the award-winning author of nearly 60 books, including After You Believe, Surprised by Hope, Simply Christian, The Challenge of Jesus, and The Meaning of Jesus (coauthored with Marcus Borg), as well as the much-heralded series Christian Origins and the Question of God. In his newest book, The Case for the Psalms: Why They Are Essential, he makes an argument for why Christians must read, pray, sing, and live the Psalms.

Writes Publishers Weekly about The Case for the Psalms, “Wright … knows the Bible about as well as he knows his name …. The author’s reflections are pastoral, urging the reader to understand and then pray and sing the Psalms.

Space is limited, so be sure to arrive early. Books will be available for purchase.
