Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the School of Education! The university where you complete your degree or certification program is one of the most important decisions you will make. We want to provide you with clear information as you consider your education needs and career goals. Our goal is to serve you as best we can. Let me share some information that can help you decide if Seattle Pacific is the right place for you.

Vision. We envision our graduates "engaging the culture, changing the world." Our mission is to prepare educators for service and leadership in schools and communities by developing their professional competence and character within a framework of Christian faith and values. In other words, we want our graduates to make a positive difference in the lives of children and their families within the context of schools and communities.

Quality. We have been providing quality education for over 100 years! All our education programs are accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the Professional Educator Standards Board. The School of Education has an excellent reputation, and our graduates are employed in school districts throughout the Northwest and beyond. Feel free to ask an educator in the region about our programs. I'm confident you will like what you hear.

Program Characteristics. A brief description of our program characteristics will help you determine if Seattle Pacific is a good fit for you. All of our degree and certification programs are vision-driven, based on current research and best practices, and delivered in partnership with a state-wide network of educators in P-12 schools. Our highly competent faculty provides individualized support and assistance to students in a collaborative community of learners. We are pleased that our graduates often keep in contact with us long after they are employed.

You will want to consider us if you are interested in a high quality program with a clear vision in a collaborative atmosphere that prepares you to make a positive difference as an educator. We encourage you to look at any of our programs that interest you. If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Graduate Center at (206) 281-2091 or (800) 601-0603. We are here to help you decide if SPU is the place for you!
