Dean’s Giving Circle

Welcome to the Dean’s Giving Circle!

Lucille Kelley, dean of the School of Health Sciences

I am pleased to announce the School of Health Sciences Dean’s Giving Circle, which will be a key source of intentional giving to support special needs and projects in our School.

The Giving Circle is a great way for alumni, current and former colleagues, community partners, and those concerned about the quality and future of nursing to come together financially to support critically important projects in SHS. Through their giving, members will play a role in how SHS equips dedicated nurses to engage the culture and come alongside patients and families with high-level expertise and compassion.

Please join the Giving Circle today. The work we do is vital to the health of individuals and the greater community. With your help we can make a difference for the future of nursing.

How Does the Dean’s Giving Circle Work?

Using Meti-Man to practice nursing skills.Joining the Circle is easy.
Donors who give $1,000 or more and request to be part of the Giving Circle will become members.

Directed giving.
Members may direct half of their gifts in support of projects they choose from a menu of options, such as equipment enhancement or support for faculty development.

The other half will be invested in projects critical to SHS’ goal to graduate nursing leaders, innovators, researchers, and caregivers.

Annual meeting.
Members will gather each year with the dean of the School of Health Sciences to hear about new developments in the School, SHS student achievements, and more. These meetings are a great way to find out firsthand how member contributions have made a difference.

The first Giving Circle meeting will be October 9, 2008, in the Science Building lobby on SPU’s campus.

Membership is flexible.
Members are not required to renew annually. While we encourage membership from one year to the next in order to more fully benefit the program and students, joining for a single year is also an option.

Giving period.
The giving period for each year will be July 1–June 30. For those who plan to give but can’t do so in 2008, a signed pledge will be considered as participation.

Monthly giving option.
Members may choose to give a single sum, or they can spread their donation over a period of their choosing (up to 12 months).

As a way of saying thank you, Giving Circle members will be recognized in SPU’s Honor Roll of Donors and in the SHS Nursing Notes newsletter

Special matching fund.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, donations to the Giving Circle in 2008 will be matched dollar for dollar! This is a great way to double your impact as we partner to help the future of nursing.
