Six years ago, at the age of 15, I was paralyzed from my chest down due to a gymnastics accident. I have gained a lot of strength back, but I’m still confined to a wheelchair with limited mobility and receive costly at-home therapy. My life has never been the same. But it’s changed in the best way, too.
Since that day, I have chosen to cling to my faith in Jesus. Instead of being depressed or angry, I choose to live one day at a time and seek God’s calling on my life.
I haven’t let paralysis stop me from moving forward. As the daughter of SPU alumni, I was drawn to this place, and God has been faithful. He has provided me with a wonderful educational experience that integrates academics and faith — my source of hope in this life.

Now a junior, I have sincere relationships with professors who show genuine concern and interest in the lives and academic success of their students. SPU provides access to all the career opportunities of Seattle while giving students the chance to learn from Christian faculty who emphasize both skill and service.
I definitely would not be here without financial support provided by people like you. Scholarships and financial aid have given me the freedom to fully engage with my education, and the blessing of not having to worry about finances.
Your gift to SPU makes a difference. Every year, prospective Seattle Pacific students wait for their financial aid letters, just like I did, hoping they will be able to afford this incredible education. Your support gives me hope that I can succeed.
Thank you for considering a gift to the Seattle Pacific Fund to support student scholarships. Your donation will help a student like me experience all that an SPU education offers.
