What are you most proud of from your time at SPU?

I am most proud of the fact that I have been able to be a resource for students of color on this campus through various leadership roles. Through many shared experiences, I feel that I have been able to connect with and guide younger students, and I am excited to see how they serve the community in their own ways.

What is a fun fact about you?

My favorite breed of dog is shiba inu and I think it would be really fun to own a shiba cafe someday like what they have in East Asia.

What are some of your career goals?

Someday I hope to receive my PhD and become a professor in economics. I will be starting that journey this summer as a master’s degree student at the University of San Francisco studying international and development economics.

What is something you wish everyone knew about your major?

Economics is an incredibly important part of our everyday lives and there are so many interesting fields of study within the major. I think everyone should take an economics class at least once, not only because it may be required for their degree, but it is also very practical and useful! Our economics faculty (Dr. Mason, Dr. Dadzie, and Dr. Hau) are also incredibly fun people who care very much about their students.

What is a piece of advice you’d like to leave for those still in school?

You don't have to pretend like you know everything. One of the best parts about college is the amount of learning you will do, and part of that is engaging in conversations with others and taking classes that will challenge you. I really appreciate the friends and support system I had because they were people who were always ready to learn more and grow from uncomfortable situations.
