Nursing

Registered nurses assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Nurses administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. Nurses may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Additional training is required for nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners, who coordinate patient care and may provide primary and specialty health care.

Suggested undergraduate major: Nursing.

Training: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree for specialists.
