Optometry

Optometrists earn a Doctor of Optometry degree. They examine eyes and the visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment. They may prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions.

Suggested undergraduate major: Physiology. Physics and Calculus courses may be required.

Graduate training: Four-year doctoral program with an optional year of residency for specialized training.
