Veterinary Medicine

Practitioners with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree care for animals and work to protect public health. They may conduct research, help manage wildlife, inspect livestock, or care for pets and companion animals.

Suggested undergraduate major. Physiology. Some veterinary medical schools require coursework in animal science.

Graduate training: Four-year professional program plus residency (practicing medicine under supervision).
