The Seattle Pacific University Department of Family and Consumer Sciences prepares students to address problems faced by individuals, families, and communities globally that involve food, clothing, and shelter through Christ-centered values of love, integrity, and justice.
Who we are
The Family and Consumer Sciences Department is the only comprehensive Christian program in the Pacific Northwest that enjoys liaisons with the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Our four-year programs are located in an urban setting, which provides exciting opportunities for internships that expand career options for men and women.
Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is an integrated discipline that serves families and individuals by providing holistic, interdisciplinary, integrative, and preventative perspectives in addressing the needs of individuals and families as consumers.
We view families as the fundamental social unit, and understanding individuals and families is central to each FCS major offered. Our graduates become scientists, designers, counselors, leaders, and educators in the apparel, interiors, and food and nutrition fields.
