Dr. Stella Warnick joined the SPU faculty in 1974. In the following years, she taught in the area of clothing in textiles, specifically in Apparel Design and History of Costume.
Early in her position as assistant professor in clothing and textiles, Dr. Warnick implemented a liaison program with Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, where students have the option to attend FIT for one year and earn an AA degree. Courses from FIT transfer to Seattle Pacific University as upper-division credits, allowing students to earn an AA degree from FIT and a bachelor of arts degree from Seattle Pacific University. Dr. Warnick became Emerita faculty in 2001, but continues to teach as adjunct faculty member and serve as an academic advisor.
In 1998, students throughout campus named her the SPU Professor of the Year. The Stella Warnick Leadership Scholarship was created by Fashion Group of Seattle in 2002. Dr. Warnick is a member of Fashion Group International.
