Dr. Johnson wrote his doctoral dissertation in the area of commutative ring theory. That said, knowing that he wanted to end up in a small college math department he took a much broader than usual selection of courses.
Dr. Johnson has wide ranging interests within mathematics. While teaching at Seattle Pacific University, he taught most of the courses offered by the Mathematics Department. He also mentored senior projects in Philosophy of Mathematics, History of Mathematics, Game Theory, Graph Theory, Projective Geometry, and Ring Theory.
