Education: BPH, Grand Valley State University

Mr. Catford studied jazz and improvisation at Oakland University with Marvin "Doc" Holiday, and classical guitar with Carlos Barbosa-Lima and Guillermo Fierens (a student of Segovia) at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. He has more than 25 years of performance and teaching experience in jazz, Latin, classical, swing, and Brazilian music.

His experience includes solo guitar, small combos, and big band. Performing with and accompanying jazz greats Cab Calloway and Rosemary Clooney, as well as The Mills Brothers, Ed Ames, Little Anthony, Kenny Garrett, Robert Merrill, Patrice Muncell of the New York Metropolitan Opera, and Phil Woods. In his career, Mr. Catford has performed in Mallorca, Spain, Scotland, Tahiti, and Mexico, and appeared as a guest artist on television, as well as on cruise ships and musical theatre.

In the Seattle area he performs solo and with his groups Dos Guitarras (two guitars and Latin percussion), jazz trio (with keyboards and drums), and Hot Club Seattle (Gypsy jazz and swing with two guitars, bass).
