Education: BA, University of Wisconsin–Madison, 2000; MS, University of Washington, 2004; MAT, Seattle Pacific University, 2007. At SPU since 2011.

Matt Lautenschlager grew up in Minnesota and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an undergrad. He fell in love with Seattle while visiting as a prospective graduate schools and decided to make it his home. While a graduate student at the University of Washington, he developed an interest in teaching that would direct him along his current path.

After receiving a MS in physics from the UW, he began his relationship with SPU by attending as a student to receive a master's in teaching and teaching certification. Following a brief foray into teaching high school, he joined the faculty at SPU as an adjunct professor in 2009, and has been a full-time faculty member since 2011.
