Education: BA, Seattle Pacific University, 2016; MFA, University of Texas at Austin, 2020. At SPU since 2020.

A multidisciplinary theatre artist, Goodman teaches courses in theatrical design and technology. As an undergraduate student at SPU, Goodman earned a B.A. in theatre production with a minor in linguistics and cultural studies, graduating with honors from the University Scholars program. He grew up as a singer, percussionist, and musical theatre performer, and his love of music has continued to inform his academic research. At the University of Texas at Austin, his M.F.A. thesis combined his experience with music, visual design, and linguistics in an exploration of the relationship between what we see and what we hear. He continues to study the collaborative process of theatrical storytelling.

Locally, Goodman also served as Artistic Administrator at Issaquah’s Village Theatre, primarily coordinating the Village Originals program, which develops new musicals. He has worked as a scenic and lighting designer and educator in and around Seattle and Austin, TX.

A practicing studio artist, Goodman primarily uses graphite, pastel, and charcoal to create work featuring portraits or flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest.

Why I Teach at SPU

Tucker Goodman, Assistant Professor of Theatre

“I teach at SPU because I feel called to create an environment where students can dig into moral and theological questions while engaged in hands-on learning in theatrical production. I invite my students to develop their faith and practice together as they step into a career in the arts as skilled and grace-filled practitioners.”
