Costume Designer, Costume Shop Manager
Office: McKinley S1
Education: BA, Seattle Pacific University, 2002; MFA, University of Texas at Austin, 2008. At SPU since 2009.
Sarah Mosher received her MFA in theatrical design for theatre, opera, film, and dance. Her thesis work involved the exploration of the role clothing has played in fairytales from a historical and social perspective, specifically its uses in controlling, protecting, and liberating women. She continues to ask questions about visual storytelling, the essential nature of creation to understanding, and the representation of clothing in literature.
Ms. Mosher teaches courses in theatre and family and consumer science’s apparel design and merchandising, and says the passion of her students is a constant source of inspiration. She also works with apparel design students as they prepare collections for the annual fashion show and overseeing the costume design and production students. She first designed costumes for SPU theatre as a student, then as a guest artist in 2003, and now designs or supervises all the shows in the season.
Ms. Mosher also works as a local costume designer and owns Zeita Studios, a custom-design bridal and costume business.
