Do you love analyzing plays or have possibly considered writing your own?  Our BA in Theatre with a Theatre Studies emphasis offers you a strong literary foundation, focusing on the academic study of theatre, including history, theory, literature, criticism, and analysis.

By choosing a Theatre emphasis in Theatre Studies, you can prepare for further graduate study and careers in literary management, dramaturgy, or related fields. Theatre Studies can also provide a solid foundation for any number of careers and can double up with majors in other areas.

Major Courses and Degree Requirements

The Theatre Studies emphasis requires a minimum of 80 Theatre credits, with 30 upper-division credits.

Entering the Major

You may enter this major during your first quarter at SPU. Entrance after your first quarter requires only good academic standing (2.0 or higher SPU cumulative GPA). Consult the undergraduate catalog for complete information on how and when to enter and what you must do to complete the program.

Scholarships

Theatre Scholarships

The Theatre Department awards 10 or more Theatre scholarships each year ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. You do not need to major in Theatre to receive these scholarships.
