SPRINT Global Perspectives Talks

Colombia's Political and Economic Context within Social Unrest

On May 10th, SPRINT recorded a Zoom session with Pedro de la Puente, a grad student they met from their SPRINT trip in 2019. Pedro shared some of his experience and expertise in highlighting some of the inequalities that COVID brought to light in Colombia. Pedro spoke to the nation's history of violence, inequality, and its unwillingness to confront its past issues may ultimately cause Colombia some of the same harm.

Global Perspectives (LIVE!) with Tomas of Bell’s Cookies: Growing up and living in Colombia

On February 26th, SPRINT invited SPU Students to walk over to Bell's Cookies to learn more about our friend Tomas Perez's story about growing up in Santa Marta, Colombia (about an hour from Barranquilla). Check out this write-up from the Falcon!

SPRINT hosted its first Global Perspectives talk on October 28th at 6pm.

SPRINT core focused this fall on story and perspectives, specifically in regards to history and colonization to understand the Global world. We invited Dr. Raphael Mondesir, a SPU Sociology professor from Haiti, to share some responses to curated questions on these topics, his experience, and his home community. Join our Zoom room to learn alongside us and submit questions to our hosts. Watch Below:
