Education: BA, St. Lawrence University, 2011; MA, University of Notre Dame, 2013; PhD, University of Notre Dame, 2017. At SPU since 2018.

Hau Nguyen (pronounced as How When) received his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Notre Dame, and was a Postdoctoral Scholar there for one year before joining our School of Business, Government, and Economics. While at Notre Dame, he taught Statistics for Economics and Business for two years, and received the Distinguished Teaching Award.

Dr. Nguyen’s research focuses on Labor Economics, Health Economics, and Economics of Aging. He is interested in learning about the economic conditions of vulnerable populations such as immigrants, women, children, and the elderly, and evaluating programs that were introduced to support them.

Besides his interests in teaching and doing Economics research, Dr. Nguyen enjoys playing piano, tennis, and photography.
