What is your major?
Major: Social Justice & Cultural Studies (art for social change). Minors: Apparel Design/Merchandising and Psychology
What is something you wish everyone knew about your major?
The cultural studies major is extremely disciplinary and has taught me to critically engage in conversation with a perspective focus on race, gender, and sexualities. Cultural studies is applicable in nearly every career field, and the program teaches you how to cultivate your own academic/professional pursuits through a culturally conscious approach.
What was your most impactful class or professor?
Dr. Segall, director of the social justice major, has given me a principal framework/approach to curriculum I find myself consistently using even in classes i don't have with her. My senior capstone "Race, Representation, & Law" has opened my perception of how cultures and laws operate in tandem with each other.
What are you excited for in your future career?
I have ambitiously taken on a massive combination of academic tracks with the intention of being an extremely well-rounded and open-minded individual. I feel that at the beginning of my first year of college, i felt a bit lost and while i thought i knew what major i wanted to pursue going into my undergraduate career — I still switched around my majors a lot until I realized that I shouldn't limit my interests and absorb as much of them as possible. Going into my career, I am excited to apply a wide range of my skills and talents into every opportunity I pursue.
