What are you excited for in your future career? Something I’m most excited for is the adventures I’ll experience through my work. In my 20s, I envision myself working for a ministry that values the principles of an adventure. The uncertainty, challenge, context, and shared experiences of an adventure I believe can teach us a lot about what it means to step into faith, discipleship, and leadership. Regardless of my specific vocation, I hope to carry these ingredients of a great adventure with me.
What advice do you have for incoming students? Stories are the primal way we interact with God, one another, and ourselves. So don’t be afraid to share your story. I think the questions, dreams, and unique experiences we bring into the classroom are really what makes our college experience worth it.
How have you grown during your time at SPU? I think one of the hardest things to admit over my time at SPU is that I’ve changed a lot. Changes invite mystery and new efforts to find yourself again. Change may look like choosing a new major, freedom from family, or even getting in or out of relationships. No matter what changes I was experiencing, I’m able to say I grew a lot by intentionally giving space to these new, exciting, and yet confusing changes in my life.
