Antwinett O. Lee had her first introduction to Seattle Pacific University as an adjunct faculty member in 2011. After a six-year hiatus, she returned to teach in the graduate nursing program in Winter Quarter 2017. She joined SPU as an associate dean of undergraduate nursing in July 2017. Dr. Antwinett brings many gifts to the role, including nursing administration in an educational setting, public health nursing, and a rich nursing resume. Her love for education and personal growth is evident in her continuous pursuit of educational preparation; most recently, successfully completing her doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University.
Dr. Lee’s clinical background is vast, including practice as a clinical nurse specialist in continuing care, home health and hospice, as well as in public health, surgical oncology, and general medicine. Administratively, Dr. Lee most recently served as the director of nursing for the Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) in Kirkland, Washington. There, she led nursing faculty in curriculum development, pedagogy, and instructional design. Under her leadership, the program successfully completed secondary accreditation through Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Prior to her director role at LWTech, she served in the following leadership roles: home health clinical nurse specialist and home health nurse manager at Group Health, and director of the Clinical Performance Laboratory at SU. Her experience as a corporate educator for McKesson Health Solutions is yet another example of the broad array of teaching expertise that she brings to SPU Nursing.
Antwinett has taken an active role in supporting the nursing profession with her many appointments to service organizations. She is currently serving as president of the King County Nurses Association (KCNA) board of directors. She is a member of Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization (MMPNO), and served on the Professional Nursing Health Care Council of Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA). Antwinett is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society—Alpha Sigma chapter.
Dr. Antwinett attends Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle, where she has been a member for over 20 years. She participates in community outreach programs that serve to uplift and mentor nurses and nursing students through her Christian beliefs on an ongoing basis. Her experience and commitment to community service is evidence of her commitment to the nursing role and to the educational process.
