Physics Minor

The Physics minor at Seattle Pacific University explores how matter and energy interact, helping students understand the world around them. An ideal complement to many majors, this program develops analytical, computational, and research skills that prepare students to engage scientific questions, technological innovation, and the broader culture.

About the Physics minor

  • The minor in Physics requires a minimum of 30 credits, including 15 upper-division credits.
  • Students have two options of core requirements from which to choose, as well as upper-division core requirements.
  • Electives include courses such as PHY 3341 Quantum Mechanics, ME 3400 Dynamics, and PHY 4520 Preparing to Teach.

Labs and equipment

A variety of laboratory equipment is available to SPU students to support coursework and independent study activities. Otto Miller Hall, home to the Physics Department, contains dedicated teaching laboratories, upper-division research space and upper-division laboratory facilities.
