Opportunities in Music Therapy

Student Ruth Rodriguez Playing the Guitar

Our Music Therapy program equips students to take internships that are unique and valuable. Meet one student who is doing just that.

Ruth Rodriguez is in her fourth year here at SPU and studies Music Therapy. This September she will completing her internship in Barcelona, Spain under the supervision of Melissa Bortons, PhD. Melissa Bortons is the current president of the World Federation of Music Therapy and is also head of the graduate music therapy department at Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya (ESMUC). The internship will provide clinical training and experience as necessary for success in the practice of music therapy and required eligibility to take the national examination administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapy. Ruth is very excited for this opportunity and is thankful for the outstanding music therapy faculty we have here at Seattle Pacific.
