Bridging Theory and Business Practice: Pollard Fellowship Online Presentations

Tuesday, October 27, 2020, 1 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

Often there is a gap between the work of academic business scholars and business practice. The Bill Pollard Faith & Business Research Fellowship was developed to help bridge this gap. In the summer of 2019, selected scholars came to Seattle Pacific University for a short residency, during which they drew on the Pollard papers and other resources in SPU’s Work and Faith Collection to develop new research on an aspect of the papers related to the interest of the scholar. By studying these writings, scholars engaged with the business practices of the ServiceMaster Company. Their research is aimed at filling in the gap, looking at business practices through the lens of a scholar. The two “best paper” winners from the Pollard Fellowship 2019 were Dr. Helen Chung and Dr. Marcus Brauer. They will introduce their papers at this event and have a dialogue about their findings.
