Why I like teaching at SPU: I teach because I believe there is a difference between understanding and applying an idea or skill, and seek to provide an opportunity to experiment and gain confidence in a low-risk environment. While the actual source is uncertain, I strongly resonate with the quote that “education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
