EDU 6350: Elementary Social Studies Methods (2024-2025)

Provides a basic introduction to Social Studies Methods for elementary teachers, including in the areas of history, geography, economics, civics, and indigenous history. Identifies what is unique within the disciplines of social studies and how these may be integrated with other subjects taught in the classroom. Explores state and national standards of teaching social studies. Critically explores research, methods of teaching, and specific curricular approaches related to social studies. Emphasizes helping teachers develop students who are able to make informed and reasoned decisions as citizens in a culturally diverse, democratic society and interdependent world.
